Position Summary

Direct Support Professionals at Unique Caring Opportunities Inc are the heart of our residential care team. This role provides essential hands-on care, daily support, and meaningful engagement to residents in our group homes. DSPs play a critical role in ensuring each resident's safety, dignity, and quality of life. We seek individuals who are compassionate, dependable, and committed to creating a safe and supportive environment every day.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct care and personalized daily support to residents in the home

  • Administer medications in accordance with each resident's Medication Administration Record (MAR)

  • Complete daily care logs, progress notes, and shift documentation accurately and on time

  • Support residents with activities of daily living including personal hygiene, dressing, grooming, and total care as needed

  • Assist residents with meal preparation, nutrition support, and dietary needs

  • Escort and support residents during community outings, appointments, and activities

  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized home environment at all times

  • Complete required inventory and accountability logs each shift

  • Write clear and thorough handoff notes for incoming shift staff

  • Report any changes in resident health, behavior, or safety concerns to the Operations Manager promptly

  • Participate in fire drills, safety checks, and required compliance activities

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience working in a group home, residential care, or with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred

  • Ability to work independently while maintaining resident safety and meeting staffing expectations

  • Demonstrated reliability, accountability, and professionalism

  • CPR and First Aid certification required — or willingness to obtain upon hire

  • Flexibility to work evening, overnight, or weekend shifts as scheduled

  • Valid Florida driver's license

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required — must be able to provide proof upon request

  • Must pass a Level 2 background check prior to employment

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to assist residents with mobility support, transfers, and repositioning as needed

  • Ability to stand, walk, and remain active for extended periods during shifts

  • Ability to respond quickly and calmly in emergency or crisis situations

  • Ability to lift or support residents with physical assistance needs as required by the role
